Hard luck to the Senior Ladies who lost 3-15 to 1-10 to Eoghan Rua in the final of the warm up league. The girls were well in the game until the final ten minutes with Eoghan Rua finishing strongly. The team was: Mairead Tuohy, Lisa Callaghan, Amy Healy, Siobhan Brennan, Isobel Clark, Naomh Quinn, Louise Merrick (0-1), Ruby Clark, Lara Swann (0-1), Róisín Kearns, Áine O'Connell (1-0), Erin Mullaney, Meabh Callaghan, Rachel Boyd (0-2), Céilí Faughnan (0-2). The Senior Men had a comfortable win over Owenmore Gaels in the last group game of the Divisional League. The team was: Daniel Lyons, Patrick Benson, Eoin O'Connell, Shane Barry, Conor Sheridan, Paul Higgins, Karl McKenna, Darragh Kelly, Dillon McDermott (1-1), Johnny Quinn (0-4), Liam O'Connell (0-5), James Carroll (0-3), Conor McMorrow (1-1), Shane Deignan (2-7), Darragh Hailstones (0-2). Subs: Lee Deignan (0-3) for J Carroll, Conor Kearns for C McMorrow, Jack Duignan for D Lyons. They now play Collaney/Mullinabreena in the league next Saturday at home at 7.00PM.

The Senior Men Division 3 team take on St Patricks at home on Sunday at 1.00PM while the Senior Men Div 4 team take on Geevagh away on Friday at 8.00PM. 

The U17 boys play in a 7 a-side competition in Keash this Tuesday against Eastern Harps and Geevagh/St Michaels with the first game at 7PM.

The U16 girls play St Pats/St Farnans away on Monday at 7PM and then play Geevagh at home on Wednesday at 7.00PM.

The U15 boys play Easkey/St Farnans in the Shield Quarter final on Thursday at 7.00PM in Riverstown Park.

The U13 boys A team had a good (6-5) to (4-8) win over St John's last Friday. The U12 girls play Curry in the B Cup Semi-final at home on Thursday at 7.00PM. 

The U11 boys had 2 great games against St Molaise Gaels last Tuesday last, They now play St Mary's on Tuesday at home at 6.30PM.

The U11 girls play St Mary's away on Wednesday at 7.00PM while the U9 boys also play St Mary's away on Wednesday at 7.00PM.

Well done to Sligo Minor team on a good win over Leitrim on Friday and to Gaels players Daniel King, Oisin Conlon and James Foley who made a significant contribution to the win - they now take on Roscommon on Friday in a must win game. Hard luck to Ciara Gilligan and Amy Malone and Sligo Girls U16 team who lost the Connacht Final against Roscommon at the weekend.

Subs used: Ultan McKenna, Vinny Henry, Andrew McGrievy. They now take on Geevagh away next Friday at 8.00PM.  

The U17 boys recorded their second win of the league over Owenmore Gaels on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-5. The team was: Sean Kelly, Jack Tuohy, Steven Smith, Adam O'Carroll, Ciaran Kenny (0-5), PJ Scanlon, Niall Kenny (0-1), George Barlow (0-1), Joris Rooney, Aaron Coleman (0-5), Keelan Hannon (0-1), Jack Barrett (0-1), Brian Dwyer (3-4) Subs used: Leo Kennedy.

The U16 girls play St Pats/St Farnans on Monday away 7PM.

The U15 boys lost 5-11 to 3-8 to Castleconor last Thursday. The U13 boys A team play St John's away on Friday at 7.30PM.

The U11 boys are away to St Molaise Gaels on Tuesday at 7.00PM.

The U10 and U8 girls had busy week with games against Owenmore Gaels and Geevagh with great skills on display.

The U7 boys and girls took to the field Wednesday evening at home for their first outing in the Gaels jersey. They played Coolera/Strandhill with some great scores and they had loads of support on the evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

This is the last week of clothes collection - bags can be dropped off to clubhouse any evening or contact Michelle McMorrow.

The club were saddened to hear of the passing of John Joe McGoldrick, Sooey, who for many years was the custodian of our clubhouse.  We wish to express sympathy with his relatives and friends on his passing. We also express sympathy with the family and relatives of Margaret McLoughlin, Riverstown and Malachy MacLoughlin, Dublin and formerly of Riverstown who died during the week.

Best of luck to Sligo LGFA Minor team and Gaels players, Ellie McDermott, Hannah Willis and Ruby Clark who take on Roscommon in the B Connacht Final tomorrow at 2.00PM in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. Best of luck also to Sligo U20's and Lee Deignan and Paul Higgins next Saturday against Kildare in the U20 All Ireland Semi-final in Cavan.

The Men's Junior Team also had an impressive 4-11 to 1-9 away win over Ballymote in the North/East Divisional League last Sunday. The Senior Men's Junior B team take on Ballymote next Friday at home in the first round of the 4C League.

The Senior Ladies are back in league action this Sunday at home against CT Gaels at 10.30AM. 

The U17 boys play Owenmore Gaels at home this Tuesday at 6.30PM.

Well done to the U15 girls who won the Division 2 Feile Cup at the weekend. Having lost to St John's in the first game, they went on to defeat CT Gaels and then had a good win against Eastern Harps in the semi-final before overcoming St Mary's by a single point in a tight final encounter. The panel was: Hannah Hargadon, Aalessha Sweeney, Ava Lyons, Muireann Bruen, Leah Mullaney, Aoibhinn Conlon, Katie Gilligan, Leanne Galvin (C), Penny Barlow, Hannah Rainey, Orlaith Scanlon, Maya Woichowska, Amy Bagnall, Hayley Mullaney, Amy Brehony, Roisin Kelly, Aisling Dwyer, Clodagh Hannon, Leah Coleman and Ciara Gilligan.

The U15 Boys play Castleconnor away on Thursday at 7.00PM. 

The U14 girls lost their final league group game to Eoghan Rua. This now go through to the A Shield semi-final on 30th May against Drumcliffe/Rosses point.

The Boys U13 C and A teams play St Molaise Gaels away this Wednesday at 6.30PM and 7.30PM.

The U12 girls had a good win against Geevagh in the final group game last Thursday and await results of other games to see who we play in the quarter final on May 13th. 

The U11 and U9 boys had very enjoyable games with Eastern Harps last week.

The U11 girls enjoyed their first game of year against Calry last week with some great skills on display, while the two U10 Girls teams also played Eastern Harps in two very enjoyable games. They now play Owenmore Gaels at home on Tuesday at 6.30PM.

The U7's have their first game of the year at home this Wednesday at 7.00PM against Coolera/Strandhill.

We are currently holding a used clothes collection (old clothes, towels, sheets, shoes (no duvets or pillows). Bags will be collected on Saturday 14th May - bags can be dropped into the clubhouse anytime training or games are on or contact Michelle McMorrow on 087 6157455 for details.

We were really sorry to hear of the tragic passing of Marguerite Kilfeather, Rosses Point and we express our sincere sympathy to her daughter Marguerite Medas and family and nephew Alan Henry and all of the Kilfeather family, relatives and friends on their sad loss.

The Junior team lost 2-15 to 0-9 at home to Eastern Harps in the North/East Division League on Saturday. They now take on Ballymote away next Sunday.

The U16 girls lost narrowly to St Mary's last Wednesday on a scoreline of 3-11 to 3-8. The team was: Hannah Hargadon, Ava Lyons, Louise Robertson, Leah Mullaney, Sophia Rose Henry, Sophie Swann, Leanne Galvin, Amy Malone, Amy Bagnall, Orlaith Scanlon (0-7), Anna Bagnall, Clara McGovern, Beth Candon (3-0), Hayley Mullaney (0-1). Subs used Casey Wilkinson, Hannah Rainey and Marissa Hamilton. 

The U15 girls compete in Féile this Saturday in Tourlestrane. 

The U15 boys lost to a strong Curry side last Thursday. 

Both U13 boys teams play Coolera/Strandhill this Friday at home at 6.30PM and 7.30PM.

The U12 girls had a good win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point last Friday. They now play Geevagh at home on Thursday at 7.00PM in the final group game before the quarter-final stage of the league. 

The U11 girls have their first game this week when they play Calry away on Wednesday at 6.30PM. 

The U11 and U9 boys had great games with Coolera/Strandhill last week. This Tuesday the U11 boys are at home to Eastern Harps at 7.00PM and the U9's are away to Eastern Harps on Wednesday at 7.00PM. 

The two U10 girls teams play Eastern Harps this week with Team 1 out on Wednesday at home at 7.00PM while Team 2 play away on Saturday at 10.00AM.

The G4M&O is back this Monday at 8pm in Riverstown Park. No experience required and all new members welcome for social fun way to exercise and learn the game of Gaelic. Any enquires contact Michelle McMorrow.

Well done to Sligo and our own Evan Lyons and David Quinn on a hard-fought win over New York on Sunday. 

Well done also to Sligo U20's who had a good win over Roscommon and now take on Mayo next Wednesday in the final, please come out and support Sligo and Lee Deignan who is part of the panel and Paul Higgins who is part of the management team.

The U12 girls had a good 10-9 win over St John's last week. The team was Abbie McTiernan, Rebecca Garry, Luaithe McTiernan, Lana Hughes, Eva Usher, Orla Jane Feakins. Abigail Conlon. Ciara Scanlon. Kayla Clancy. Nicole Parke. Alice Foley and Analeise Rooney. They now play Drumcliff/Rosses Point on Friday at 7.00PM.

The U11 boys play Coolera/Strandhill away on Tuesday at 7.00PM while the U9's play Coolera/Strandhill at home, day to be confirmed.

The Senior men notched up their second win in the Spring league with a 0-14 to 0-7 away win over Eastern Harps. The Junior team also got their second win of the Spring league with a 2-14 to 3-4 win over Coolera/Strandhill on Sunday. The Gaels had the benefit of the wind in the first half but went in level at half time but a spirted second half performance against the wind gave the Gaels the win. The Senior Ladies lost narrowly away to St Nathy's in the league on Sunday. We were up against a stiff breeze in the first half and found ourselves thirteen points down at half time. A great second half performance saw the Gaels go three in front at one stage, however a penalty in the closing stages gave Nathy's the win on a score line of 4-4 to 3-9. The U13 boys C team play Ballymote/Bunninadden at 6.30PM in Ballymote on Wednesday while the U13 boys A team play the same opposition at 7.30PM.

The U13 boys A team play Eastern Harps at home on Friday at 6.30PM.

The U12 girls play St John's at 6.30PM away on Tuesday.

Registration for 2022 is now overdue and anyone who has not registered needs to do so as soon as possible, otherwise they will be unable to play and will not be insured. It was a good first weekend on the pitch with all three senior teams winning. 

First up were the Junior men who had a 3-14 to 0-13 home win over St Marys in the North/East Divisional League on Saturday. The team was: John Craig, Conor Merrick, Gavin McMorrow, Aodhan Eivers, Seamus Hailstones, Dáire Kearns, Jamie Parke. Conor Kearns, Conor Sheridan, Dylan McKenna, Keith McMorrow (1-1), Conor McMorrow (0-4), Steven Willis (0-1), Joe Quinn (1-8), Mark Kearns (1-0), Subs: Andrew Barlow for J Parke, Patrick Barrett for D Kearns, Jamie Parke for C Sheridan. It was a unique occasion for the McMorrow family with father and son, Keith and Conor lining out together for the first time and matching each other on the scoreboard, the competition begins! Well done to Jamie Parke, Conor Sheridan, Conor McMorrow, Andrew Barlow and Dylan McKenna who made their senior debuts in this game. They now take on Coolera/Strandhill away next Sunday at 12.00PM. 

The Senior Ladies had a comprehensive 4-10 to 1-4 win over Owenmore Gaels in the first round of the league on Sunday. The team was: Mairead Tuohy, Siobhan Brennan, Ellie McDermott (1-0), Lisa Callaghan, Jade Lyons (0-2), Naomh Quinn, Aoife Morrisroe (0-1), Ruby Clark (1-1), Isobel Clark, Meabh Callaghan (0-1), Áine O'Connell, Erin Mullaney, Rachel Boyd, Catherine Tuohy (1-0), Céilí Faughnan (0-3). Subs played, Makayla McLoughlin (0-2), Róisín Kearns, Clodagh Costello, Meabh Lyons (1-0), Sorcha Mullaney, Jade McMorrow. They now play St Nathys away next Sunday at 10.00AM. 

The Senior team had a 4-9 to 1-9 win away to St Michaels on Sunday in the East Division League. Hard luck to our Instrumental Music team of Amy Bagnall, Lisa Golden, Ava Kennedy and Chloe McCann who represented Sligo at the Scór Connacht Finals at the weekend.  

The winners of the monthly members draw were Meg Craig, Eugene Carroll, Sean McDonagh, Ben Tuohy and Andy Kearns.  

There was no winner of the lotto draw last week with the numbers drawn 10, 14, 24 and 29. We had three match 3 winners, Lauri Quinn, Valerie Quinn and John Quinn. The jackpot now stands at €2,200 with the next draw on Monday 11th April.

The club were shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Red Óg Murphy and we wish to express sympathy with the Murphy family, relatives and friends at this difficult time. The club also wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Bridie Hennigan, Dromard and Mary Kelly, Castledargan who died recently. We also express sympathy with Jimmy Scanlon on the passing of his sister, Nora Conway, Dublin.

It was a sad week for the Club with the loss of stalwart, Club Vice-President and Patron, Michaél Reynolds. We wish to express sympathy with Sheila, Colin, Josephine, Ana Luzia, Sheona, Paul, Sophia and Keira and the extended Reynolds family and friends. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

We held our annual underage awards ceremony this weekend and our guest of honour was Paul Henry who presented winners medals to the U12 Girls A Championship Winners and League Runners up, U14 Girls A2 Championship, Girls U15 Feile Shield, Girls U16 B Championship winners and U17 Boys A Championship winners. Well done to the Player of the year winners - U18 - Meabh Callaghan, U17 - George Barlow, U16 - Lara Swann, U15 - Leo Scanlon, U14 - Hannah Hargadon, U13 - Cillian Barlow, U12 - Alaesha Sweeney, U11 - Orla Jane Feakins, U11 - Karl Barlow and U10 - Eva Callaghan. Overall player of the year was Conor Sheridan. 

The club also made a special presentation to our three members of the successful Sligo U17 Connacht winners, Conor Sheridan, Conor McMorrow and Jack Duignan.

As part of our ongoing celebrations of our 50th Anniversary, we held a Schools Blitz last Friday at Shamrock Gaels park for the National Schools in the area. We had 13 teams from 3rd to 6th class with 175 children taking park - thanks to Ardkeerin, Cloghogue, Coolbock, Kilross, Sooey and Taunagh  for taking part in what was a most enjoyable morning

The Senior Ladies had a good 2-15 to 2-6 win over Owenmore Gaels in the warm up league. The U17 boys lost to a strong Eastern Harps side in the first round of A league. The team was: Brian Dwyer, Adam O'Carroll, Oisin Conlon, Joris Rooney, PJ Scanlon, Daniel King (0-1), Jack Tuohy, Ciaran Kenny (0-2), George Barlow, Matthew Potter, Niall Kenny (0-1), Sean Kelly, Steven Smith, James Foley (2-8), Aaron Coleman Subs used Ryan Parke and Leo Kennedy. 

The U16 girls play St Molaise Gaels on Wednesday at home at 6.30PM in the first round of the league.  

The U14 girls play CT Gaels in the league on Monday 6.30PM in Tubbercurry. 

The U13 boys Division 1 and Division 3 teams play St Mary's on Monday at 5.45PM and 6.45PM in Kent Park. 

The U12 girls narrowly lost to Eastern Harps in their first game of league last Friday. They now play Owenmore Gaels at home on Friday at 6.30PM.

The 2021 underage awards will be presented next Saturday 26th March at 6.00PM in Riverstown Hall. 

Thanks to all who participated in the St Patricks Day parade to mark the 50th Birthday of the Club which was founded on March 17th 1972 when local rivals Sooey and Knockalassa amalgamated. We also celebrated with a Mass in Riverstown Church on Friday to remember our founding members and all members who have passed away since the foundation of the club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha. Thanks to Rev AB O'Shea for celebrating the Mass. 

Well done to our Scór participants who represented the Club at the County Finals in Ballintogher at the weekend. We had Meabh Harte competing in the Solo Singing, George Barlow, Oisín Conlon, Brian Dwyer and Daniel King competing in the Quiz. We won the Instrumental Music title and were represented by Amy Bagnall, Lisa Golden, Ava Kennedy and Chloe McCann who now go through to the Connacht Final on Saturday 2nd April in Ballinasloe.   

We are back on the field this week with the first games of the year taking place. The U15 boys play Tourlestrane away on Thursday at a time TBC.  

The U12 girls play Eastern Harps away on Friday at 6.15PM. 

The U17 boys play Eastern Harps away on Sunday at 11am. 

The Senior Ladies play Owenmore Gaels at home in the warm up league on Sunday at 10.30PM.

This is a special week in the history of the club as we were formed 50 years ago in 1972 on St Patricks Day when local rivals Sooey and Knockalassa amalgamated to form Shamrock Gaels. To mark the day, we will be participating in the St Patricks Day parade - all players, members, managers, coaches, parents and supporters are welcome to join - wear your club colours and meet on Mail Coach Road at 11.30AM. 

To kick off a year of celebrations we will also be celebrating a Mass in Riverstown Church at 7PM on Friday 18th March to remember all of our founding members, players and supporters.

Well done to Marina Swann, our Healthy Club Officer who spoke at the GAA Healthy Club Phase 5 conference at the weekend on the club's work on Diversity and Inclusion.

The Gaels will celebrate 50 years in existence this year. The club was founded on St Patricks Day in 1972 when old rival clubs Sooey and Knockalassa amalgamated. We are currently working on our comprehensive history book which will be published next year and we also plan to have a number of events celebrating a successful 50 years in 2022, so watch this space.

At the Club's AGM last weekend, all officers were returned for the incoming season with the addition to the Executive of Nadine Barrett, Majella Muldowney and Roisin Kearns who is also appointed as an additional Assistant Pro. 

Well done to Sligo LGFA who showed great character to earn a draw against Louth at the weekend. The Gaels were well represented with Aoife Morrisroe, Jade Lyons and Ellie McDermott who was making her debut for the senior team. 

We were delighted to receive funding from the Sports Capital Grant in last week's announcement which will help to make our grounds more accessible to the community. Thanks to all who helped in the application especially Enda Candon, Darren Clancy, Majella Muldowney and Cara Tighe. We still have to match the funding with our own fundraising and a number of projects were part of the application including walkway and lighting around the pitch, wheelchair access throughout the grounds,  showers upgrades and behind the goals net upgrades. 

We are continuing with our 'Ireland Lights Up' walking in Riverstown Park every Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 to 8PM for the month of February - all are welcome.  

The club wish to express our sincere sympathy with Club member and former player, Paul Corcoran and family on the sad passing of his wife Michelle last weekend. We also express sympathy with the family and relatives of Billy O'Connell, Riverstown who died last week.

There will be a Bord Na Nóg meeting on this Wednesday 9th Feb in the Clubhouse at 8.00PM. 

At the Bord Na Nóg AGM last week, the existing officers were confirmed for another year, Chairperson, Martin Cassidy, Secretary, Michelle McMorrow and Treasurer, Stephen Rooney. Also, at the Senior Club meeting, all outgoing officers were re-confirmed for 2022. 

We are delighted to announce that Mark Tuohy, Keith McMorrow and Vinnie Boyd have been confirmed as the Junior A management team for 2022 - we wish them well for the year ahead.  

There was no winner of the lotto draw last week with the numbers drawn 9, 12, 18 and 20. Martina Scanlon matched 3 numbers and wins €100. The jackpot now stands at €1,800 with the next draw on Monday 14th Feb.

We will be holding the Senior Club AGM on Sunday 6th February at 6.00PM in the clubhouse while the Bord Na Nóg AGM takes place on Tuesday 1st February at 8PM, also in the Clubhouse. We would appeal to all members, players and supporters to attend as we are always in need for assistance for the year ahead.
