First up was the Minor Girls who lost 3-15 to 0-6 against Galway Champions, Kilkerrin/Clonberne in the quarter final of the A Connaught Championship. The Girls were well in the game in the first half, however a stronger Kilkerrin/Clonberne slowly pulled away and we were left with a mountain to climb in the second half. The Girls however never gave up and went down fighting encouraged on by the large vocal Gaels contingent who had travelled to support the team. Thanks to the team for all their work this year and to managers Fiona Lyons, Michelle Tuohy and Aoife O'Connor for their work with the team. The team was: Meabh McDermott (C), Lisa O'Callaghan (Amy Healy), Aoife Morrisroe, Roisin Durey (Ellie McDermott), Isobel Clarke, Jade Lyons, Kate Brady, Eala McDermott (0-1), Louise Merrick, Rachel Boyd (0-3), Erin Mullaney (0-1), Roisin Kearns, Makayla McLoughlin (0-1), Mairead Tuohy (Chloe McTiernan), Jane Benson (Andie Brady). Kate Brehony, Nadine Hargadon.
The Minor boys had a heartbreaking loss to St Molaise Gaels in the Minor A Championship final. Having been in control of the game after clawing back a six point deficit in the second half, the Gaels went two points ahead in the closing stages and while they had chances to extend the lead, it was St Molaise Gaels who finished strongly scoring a goal in injury time to snatch victory on a final scoreline of 5-7 to 4-11. This has been a great year for the minor team and it was disappointing to lose in this way and only the team's second loss in both league and championship. Well done to the team who gave it all and to the management of Glen McDermott, Eugene Carroll, Hilary Lyons and Paul Higgins. The team was:  Daniel Lyons, Dylan Burke (0-2), Evan Lyons, Bryan Johnston, Seamus Hailstones (0-1), Sean Carroll, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Dillion McDermott, James Carroll (0-1) Michael Barry, Patrick Benson, Aaron McKenna, Lee Deignan (0-1) Dylan Willis (4-0), Shane Deignan (1-2). Subs: Brendan Hailstones, Adrian Benson, Christian Monaghan, Conor Kearns.
While today was disappointing for both minor teams, we should reflect on their achievements over the last four years as most of these players move to adult football. Both of these teams represented Sligo at Feile in 2014, with the Girls winning the Feile All Ireland Shield while in the same year both teams won their respective U14 A Championships on the same memorable day in Collooney. They then went on to win many other titles with many of them representing Sligo at various levels and this year the Girls won the A Championship and the boys won the A League to round off a very successful underage career.  They have brought great success to the club with many memorable and enjoyable days for parents and supporters and we look forward to both teams going on to represent the club at senior level in the years to come.
Congrats to Tourlestrane on making it three in a row and well done to the Enniscrone/Kilglass club for the very successful hosting of the County finals today.
The U13 Feile team had a great win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point last Thursday after extra time in the A Feile semi-final. They now take on St Marys in the final - date TBC.
All roads next Sunday lead to Cloonacool and Bunninadden with both our Ladies and Mens senior teams contesting Championship finals against Curry. First up the Ladies play Curry in Cloonacool at 12.15PM in the Junior Final with the men taking on Curry in Bunninadden at 3.30PM in the Intermediate final - please come out in force to support both teams.
There was no winner of the lotto last weekend with the numbers drawn 10, 11, 12 and 27. There was one match 3 winner, Aine & Maria Brennan. The next draw is this Saturday 20th in McDermotts, Castlebaldwin with the jackpot at €4,800.
The club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Martin Kearns, Sligo and formerly of Geevagh, Brian McGonigle, London and formerly of Riverstown and Maurice Conboy, Tubbercurry who died recently.

The Senior team will have to do it all again next weekend after they drew with Curry in the Intermediate Championship Final last Sunday. The Gaels were three points up going into the closing stages only to see a Curry revival to share the spoils on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-17. The replay is scheduled for next Sunday at 2PM in Bunninadden. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Ben Tuohy, Paul Higgins, Evan Lyons, Karl McKenna (0-1), Keith McMorrow, Andrew Flynn, Joe Henry, Michael Kilkenny, James Carroll, Frank Quinn, Dillon McDermott, David Quinn (0-4), Brian Boyd (0-4), Darragh Hailstones (2-2). Subs: Shane Deignan for M Kilkenny, Dylan Willis for D McDermott, Joe Quinn for D Hailstones, Seamus Hailstones for J Carroll, Gavin McMorrow for B Tuohy (inj).
It was disappointment for the Senior Ladies in Cloonacool as they lost the Junior Championship final to Curry on a scoreline of 3-11 to 1-10. The Gaels gave a solid first half performance and led by four at the interval but playing against a strong breeze in the second half the Gaels never hit form with second half goals from Curry proving decisive. The team was: Meabh McDermott, Eillis O'Connor, Aisling Boyd, Catherine Tuohy, Naomh Quinn, Aoife Morrisroe, Roisin Durey, Jade Lyons (1-0), Siobhan Brennan, Rachel Boyd (0-2), Erin Mullaney (0-2), Roisin Kearns (0-2), Lousie Merrick,  Simone Kelly (0-2), Aoife O'Connor. Subs: Mairead Tuohy (0-2) for A O'Connor, Isobel Clark for E O'Connor, Makayla McLoughlin for S Brennan, Fiona Baker for S Kelly. Seana Durey, Jane Benson, Lisa Callaghan, Chloe McTiernan, Sonia McDermott, Aoife Brennan. Thanks to the team for their work this year, disappointing that we have no title but good progress to reach both league and championship finals. Thanks to Gus Chapman, Cormac Kearns and Fiona Lyons for their work with the team this year.
Hard luck to the U13 Feile team who lost the A final to St Marys last Thursday. The team was: Sean Kelly, Joris Rooney, Oisin Conlon, Ryan Parke, P J Scanlon, Daniel King, Jack Tuohy, George Barlow, Ciaran Kenny, Steven Smith, Sam Tuohy, Aaron Coleman, Jack Barrett, Brian Dwyer, James Foley (C). Subs:  Matthew Potter, Darragh McKeon, Leo Scanlon, Jack Breheny, Alex Clarke, Adam O'Carroll, Dylan White, Eddie Cogan. Thanks to Shane Quigley, Harry King, David Wimsey, Enda Foley for their work with the team.
There was no winner of the lotto last weekend. The numbers drawn were 8, 16, 18, 20. The winner of the house draw was Jessica Sweeney. The next draw is on Nov 3rd in Hartes with the jackpot at €4,900.

A moments silence was observed at the Intermediate game on Sunday for Dale. The club also express sympathy with the family and relatives of Eugene O'Brien, Lavally who died at the weekend.

It has been a long time coming but it was worth the wait when the Gaels lifted the Intermediate Championship beating Curry in the replay on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-10 in Bunninadden last Sunday. The Gaels got off to a blistering start racing into a five point lead at half time, however a different Curry emerged in the second half and chipped away at the Gaels lead only to go one up with five minutes remaining, The Gaels however confounded the critics and dug deep as they have done on so many occasions this year to level the game and it was minor star Dylan Willis who had the final say with a goal in the closing stages to give the Gaels a deserved victory and our third Intermediate Championship. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Declan Willis, Evan Lyons, Keith McMorrow, Karl McKenna, Paul Higgins (C), Andrew Flynn, Dillon McDermott, Joe Henry, Shane Deignan (0-1), Brian Boyd (0-2), James Carroll, Darragh Hailstones, Frank Quinn (0-1), David Quinn (0-9). Subs used: Ciaran O'Connor for J Carroll, Seamus Hailstones for S Deignan, Dylan Willis (1-0) for D Hailstones.  Well done to the team and management John McPartland, Gerry Monaghan, Seamus Cawley and Hilary Lyons. Thanks to all of our supporters who again travelled in large numbers to support the team. We now take on Fenagh-St Caillins from Leitrim next Saturday at 2PM in Enniscrone in the Connacht Championship.

5 Nov
The Gaels advanced to the Connacht Intermediate Championship semi-final with a narrow win over Fenagh St Caillins (Leitrim) last weekend. This proved to be a difficult challenge for the Gaels having just played the County final replay last Sunday, however despite tiring legs the Gaels clawed back a second half deficit to win by one. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half the Gaels were well on top for most of the half, however a late penalty and a strong finish from Fenagh saw the Gaels behind by two at half time. In the second half Fenagh consolidated their lead and were six points up mid-way through the half but the never say die attitude of the Gaels, which has been evident on many occasions this year ensured that the Gaels dug deep and clawed the deficit back to two points as the game entered injury time. It was again substitute Dylan Willis, the hero of the county final who stepped up and showing remarkable skill scored a goal to put the Gaels one up with three minutes remaining and despite heavy legs the Gaels held on to record our first win in Connacht. Next up is Roscommon champions Fuerty in the Connacht semi-final next weekend. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Declan Willis, Paul Higgins, Keith McMorrow, Ciaran O'Connor, Karl McKenna, Evan Lyons, Joe Henry, Dillon McDermott, James Carroll, Frank Quinn, Brian Boyd, David Quinn (0-7), Shane Deignan (1-2), Darragh Hailstones (0-1). Subs: Seamus Hailstones for C O'Connor (inj), Dylan Willis (1-1) for B Boyd, Joe Quinn for D Hailstones.
There was no winner of the lotto draw last weekend. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 9, 30. There was one match 3 winner, Mary Quinn while Eamon McMunn won the house draw. The next draw is on Saturday 17th in Des McDonaghs with the jackpot at €5,000.
There will be a club Mass in memory of deceased members on Saturday 17th November at 8PM in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Riverstown.
The club wish to express sympathy with Leona Conlon on the death recently of her father Mel Devlin, Longford

12 Nov
We made our exit from the Connacht Intermediate Championship after a disappointing performance against Fuerty (Roscommon) on Sunday in the semi-final. The Gaels never got going and unlike in previous games were lethargic in the first half and never got up to the heights of previous games. A much more determined Gaels emerged in the second half with a significant improvement in performance. They needed early goals to get back in the game, however these never materialised with Fuerty running out deserving winners on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-6. Thanks to the team and management of John McPartland, Gerry Monaghan, Seamus Cawley and Hilary Lyons for their work this year in what was our most successful season for many years, consolidation of our position in the Division 1 League and winners of the Intermediate Championship. With such a young emerging team, today was not the end, but the beginning. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Ben Tuohy, Paul Higgins (C), Evan Lyons, Keith McMorrow, Karl McKenna, Declan Willis, Joe Henry, Dillon McDermott, James Carroll, Frank Quinn, Brian Boyd, Darragh Hailstones, David Quinn, Shane Deignan. Subs: Dylan Willis for D Hailstones, Michael Kilkenny for D McDermott, Seamus Hailstones for B Boyd, Eoin Carroll for J Carroll, Daire Kearns for F Quinn.
Thanks to Owenmore Gaels GAA Club for their excellent organisation and presentation of their impressive facilities for the game.
There is no rest for the Gaels as we now turn our attention to the delayed U21 A Championship with two games this weekend. The Gaels U21 team advanced to the semi-final of the A Championship with an impressive 2-18 to 0-9 win over Curry last Sunday. We go through on points difference with all three teams finishing level. The Gaels had given a disappointing display on Friday night losing out to St Molaise Gaels on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-9 which led to them having to win the Curry game by five points to qualify. A different Gaels turned up on Sunday and brought a greater intensity to the opening fifteen minutes racing into a nine point lead with Sean Carroll scoring an impressive goal mid way through the half. Curry responded well scoring three points in a row to finish the half strongly. The Gaels however took control in the second half and after five minutes they never looked like losing the game with ten players getting on the scoresheet. The team was: Daniel Lyons, Alan Kelly, Evan Lyons, Ben Tuohy, Enda O'Connell, Karl McKenna, Patrick Benson (0-1), James Carroll, Dillon McDermott, Sean Carroll (2-0), Shane Deignan (0-1), Daire Kearns (0-1), Darragh Hailstones (0-8), Dylan Willis (0-1), Seamus Hailstones (0-3). Subs: Mark Kearns (0-1) for B Tuohy, Luke Flynn for P Benson, Ryan Fitzpatrick for E O'Connell, Michael Barry for S Hailstones, Brendan Hailstones for D Hailstones, Steven Willis (0-1). The scorers on Friday night were, Dylan Willis (1-2), Daire Kearns (0-3), Darragh Hailstones (0-3), Sean Carroll (0-1). The Gaels suffered an agonising defeat to St Marys in the U21 A Championship final last Saturday by the narrowest of margins. The Gaels dominated the first half and went in four points up at half time, however a strong second half from St Marys saw them take the lead mid way through the half and thanks to heroics from Daniel Lyons the Gaels kept in touch. The teams were level going into injury time with Marys converting a free to win in the dying seconds on a score line of 1-15 to 1-14. The team was: Daniel Lyons, Ben Tuohy, Evan Lyons, Alan Kelly, Enda O'Connell, Patrick Benson, Sean Carroll, James Carroll (0-3), Dillon McDermott, Daire Kearns (1-1), Shane Deignan (0-1), Mark Kearns (0-2), Seamus Hailstones (0-1), Dylan Willis (0-1), Darragh Hailstones (0-5), Subs: Karl McKenna for S Hailstones, Luke Flynn for D McDermott, Ultan McKenna, Steven Willis, Brendan Hailstones, Michael Barry, Niall Whelan, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
