The club were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Frank Henry during the week. Frank was one of the best ever players to play for not only the Gaels but also Sligo. In our history book published in 1985, a tribute was included to Frank, who at the time was only in his late twenties and still playing with Sligo and Leixlip. It noted that Frank was 'one of many talented players to contribute to the Gaels success story. Frank Henry, probably more than most, typifies the ideal club player, an elusive forward, a soaring centre field player or a staunch defender as occasion demanded, and always a sportsman. Frank was one of the sturdy pillars on which the club was founded'. We wish to express our sympathy with his wife Anne, children Noel, Emer, Colm and Maeve and the wider Henry family, who have been an integral part of the Gaels family since our foundation. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam dilis.
